About this brigade
Join us for an extraordinary 6-day voyage linking Anishinabe and Haudenosaunee Nations in a journey of reconciliation and shared heritage. The Chief Pinesi Paddle commemorates Chief Pinesi (1768–1834) and his legacy — paddling 180 km along the historic Ottawa River from Gatineau to arrive at the Kahnawake Powwow (July 11).
Interest in this brigade far exceeded the available places, and the 2026 paddle ran at full capacity. Registration and the waitlist are now closed.
What to expect
- 6 days of paddling (up to 40 km/day)
- 3 big canoes with ~10 paddlers each (authentic 36' replica voyageur canoes)
- Camping at historic sites along the route
- Community events, drumming, and celebrations along the way
- Arrive in time for the Kahnawake Powwow opening (July 11)
- Drug and alcohol-free brigade, out of respect for Indigenous ancestors
- Small craft welcome for portions of the route (especially Day 1)
